Another month in the books! We are being homebodies a little bit more now that we are trying to be on a budget. Though we still manage to eat out at least a couple times (we can’t help it, we love going out to eat). I’m actually quite happy with our progress even though we’re not doing anything quite drastic.
With Nora being more mobile now, we figured it was time to finally buy her some shoes to wear and start practicing to walk around out in the real world (as opposed to inside the house with no shoes). We were thankful to use some of her “birthday cash/shoe money” that my mama had given her (thanks Mom!) We had SO.MUCH.FUN looking at tiny shoes. Of course, we couldn’t resist getting her her very first pair of Converse.
*Squee* She just looks so cute in them. I say to her “Nora, do you want to go bye – bye? Go get your Chucks!” (Then she walks over to the shoe cabinet) So cute. It blows my mind that she can already understand so much of what we say now!
After shoe shopping we had some fun eating at a local Teriyaki food place. Yum!
I just love these two! (I also love when she’s not being super ultra fussy when we’re out!)
Also here’s a little look at the garden from earlier this month! We hadn’t been out there in a while for a group garden day, so the weeds were out in full force. We managed to knock most of the weeding out in about 2 1/2 hours (Go us!!) Still a ways to go, but it’s coming together quite nicely! Nice to see results from the hard work!
Nora also had a lot of fun this month playing with the cousins at the farm & at Gramma Jills 🙂
It’s so cute how she studies their every move trying to keep up, and learn all she can. This is such a fun age!
I had a fun day celebrating my 2nd Mother’s Day too! We went out to breakfast (they gave all the mother’s a rose, which I was stoked about!), and then to hang out with the family for the day.
These two make me SO thankful to be a wife/mom. 😀
We had a nice little trail walk at the park with the family, too!
A favorite daily activity of late is walking down the street to get the mail! I didn’t use to think this was any kind of fun, but it’s nice how having a kid can make boring things fun! She’s such a big helper! Though, don’t leave her with the junk mail for too long or else she will do her own kind of recycling (eating.). 😉
This month we started sleep training as well (which I thought would be super ultra hard since she’s been in our bed since day 1) but it wasn’t really that bad at all! The first night was frequent trips in to shush her and lay her back down, but night 2 was leaps and bounds better! The third night the stars must have aligned because she slept from 9pm-7:15 am! I, of course, didn’t because I kept waking up to check on her to make sure she was breathing and what not…but it was great! I’m so so proud of her!
We’re almost done painting her room too.. (thanks to Daddy!) I do want to paint her closet though, since it’s pretty beat up, but after that for sure it will be done. Here’s a quick before and after! (Which reminds me, I need to do a whole house post eventually!)
The rest of the room is pretty rough still, but coming along though it seems never ending at the moment!
Late in the month we could tell Nora was getting pretty bored/restless so we decided to go to the park downtown to explore. We ended up having a fun time playing down by the river, and skipping rocks! (Matt’s really good at that & me not so much, but it’s fun to try!) Nora had a lot of fun playing in the dirt and rock hunting (and maybe tasting dirt for the first time too …*gross*).
Afterwards we went downtown to have some burgers. Yummyness! This photo progression just shows how much fun Nora & Daddy have together. Truly never a dull moment!
This past weekend we also got together at my father-in-law’s house to celebrate his birthday that was earlier in the week. It was a great way to end the month with family and a nice meal prepared together. (Sorry I didn’t have photos from this! Guess we were having too much funs!)
(P.S – My sweet sis-in-law ended up sending me a few pics after reading my post! Thanks, B! <3)
Overall a pretty lax, fun & chill month. Now to start beginning of the month tasks like our June budget. We will be getting Nora-bean a new car seat since she’s about outgrown the one that goes with her stroller now. (Stop growing baby girl, nooooo!) 😉
I will end with some of our favorite play time pictures. See you all next month!
